Gold Medal into the Waterloo Region

Excellent news everyone!

There is a huge achievement for Kitchener-Waterloo – usually most of the medals go to Brazil and the US, but now the first gold medal from such a high level competition has reached Waterloo! Dave Knowles won first place in the brown belt heavyweight division at the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation’s Masters and Seniors World Jiu-Jitsu Championships 2013 in Long Beach, California on October 6th. He achieved a gold medal and is proud to represent Dragan Alliance BJJ. He also got a silver medal in the absolute open class division. After 6 tough matches that lasted all day, he achieved these two medals despite going up against some of the top world Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitors. Everybody came well prepared and put up a great fight, but Dave kept going and won!
Here are the results from the IBJJF:

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Another Gold Medal!

We have some exciting news we would like to announce about this past Saturday’s tournaments.

At the Grappling Industries Tournament in Montreal on August 17th, last Sayurday, Patrick O’Halloran won gold in the advanced no-gi division and silver in the absolute gi division, defeating 4 of his opponents by submission and losing only one match in the entire tournament to a lot heavier guy by an advantage or 2 points. Great job Patrick, for every tournament he attended so far this year, he wins the first place in his division.
